WORK IN PROGRESS
Hello, our reels are undergoing a bit of a makeover!
You can view our old sound design reel on the right if you like, but it is a few years out of date. We’ll have some fresh reels soon, but in the meanwhile feel free to get in touch with us if you want some examples of our work!
Music
When it comes to music, we’re all about building strong themes and catchy melodies that will stick in players’ heads. Music can be the emotional centre of a game, and we can hit the right note with our experience in a range of different musical styles. We work with experienced composers from a variety of musical traditions — both in-house and external, through our network of collaborators.
Supertonic’s team composes, arranges, records, mixes and masters the tracks, and implements them into the game—all of it comes under our umbrella. Our particular specialty is designing music systems that can respond and react to the game and to the player.

We love creating and tinkering with adaptive music and sound systems. The right sounds evoking the right feelings and reactions can bring a gaming experience to life like no other medium.
We can build you an interactive sound system that suits the needs of your game and makes the end result entirely unique.

As part of our promise to take care of the audio creation and implementation experience for developers, we have a large pool of collaborators to draw from, with styles to suit all kinds of projects.
We’ll find the right voice actors, direct the recording sessions, and handle all of the technical post-work. When you work with Supertonic, you also get the benefits of our amazing network of very cool professionals spread across all areas of the audio field.
Specialised
We’re all about collaboration, and we have all the technical skills required to support your project from one end of the audio experience to the other.
Beyond the actual creation of the sounds for the game, we’ll be there to help with implementation and testing. We’re invested in making sure the final product sounds just right, and making the journey as pleasant as possible.
Featured Project: Windbound
Windbound is a seafaring adventure from 5 Lives Studios. Trapped alone on an uncharted island, you need to explore, adapt and navigate the land—as well as the perilous seas—to stay alive.
You are Kara, a warrior shipwrecked by a fierce storm who finds herself washed up on an unfamiliar shore. With only the will and skill to survive, uncover the rich resources of the Forbidden Islands, and craft tools and weapons to hunt and defend yourself against this unknown world’s wild and fantastical creatures.
Supertonic’s Work on Windbound
Creating the incredible critters, tools, melodies, and ancient, mystical energies of Windbound's soundscape was a huge undertaking. Our unique, interactive music system assigned each creature a musical instrument which harmonised with all the others in the game. By listening carefully, players could identify the type of creature, track it, and learn its moods.
The vast majority of the sounds in Windbound were created from recordings made in-house, such as extracting the creak of a hunting bow from a wicker basket and a leather belt, the distress cry of a razorback piglet from Zander snorting into a bucket, and an appropriately anime-sounding critical hit from a kitchen knife and a smashing beer bottle.
We also crafted systems to make the birds in the trees have conversations, for the rain to know what kind of surface it was pattering on, and to tell thunder when to clap after a lightning strike. For a more detailed account of how the music system was put together and how the various sounds were achieved, check out Zander's 2020 GCAP talk [include hyperlink].
You can buy the Windbound OST on Bandcamp, listen to it on your preferred music streaming service, or even buy the vinyl record from Mana Wave Media.
